Scouting has changed over the last few years... With the change of ventures to explorers (14-18 years)  and Network (18-25 years). Here you will be able to; find out how to contact us, what we are doing, future events, and view photos and stories of past network events.

Welcome to the Ormskirk Network website. (The site is currently a bit dated but changes are afoot!) Ormskirk Network is made up of anyone involved in Scouting aged 18 to 25 in the Ormskirk District including Skelmersdale, Burscough, Rufford, Tarleton and Halsall and is part of West Lancashire Scout Network. We meet in The Hesketh Arms, Liverpool Road in Rufford most Sundays at 8.30pm. We have a fun packed programme which you can check out below if you feel like joining come along and see what you think. One of the good things about the Scout Network is that members are free to come up with activities they would like to do, or something they are already doing, and allow other members of the Network to come along with them.

The Ormskirk Network was started in September 1999 and the Scout Association has since launched the Scout Network nationwide during 2002.

Smiler in Police fancy dress at Operation Moonlight
Ormskirk Network had a cracking Operation Moonlight being a key part of the winning veterans team (Congratulations to Ste Daniels), Catching team (Congratulations to Nancy Wade) and having a full running team who came second (Emma, Chris, Steph and Me (Smiler)).

Operation Moonlight is basically a giant game of catch between two points across West Lancashire with teams of 4 to 6 people running and catchers who walk or drive around the area.
I was in the second place team in the older section with 3 lives lost through the day covering a total of 17 miles whilst enjoying time hiding in ditches and woods. Unfortunately we broke Mini-Steph in the process and had a bit of a rushed finish.  Although we didn’t win the running competition I think we definitely won best dressed team with police themed costumed.
I’m looking forward to next year - catching I think (presuming my legs have recovered).
Another great year for Operation Moonlight with special thanks to Chris Phillips, Mark Gilham and the rest of the team for putting in a big effort to organise it.

- Smiler (Stuart Collier)
